Transmission 01 — We're On The Air

2026.01.14.SYN.666.txt

Static peels back like a scab.
Red light.
Mic hot.
Truth slightly overdriven.

“Good evening, sinners, saints, skeptics, and whoever found us by accident while tuning past the weather. This is SYN dot six six six, broadcasting from a frequency the FCC cannot locate and God refuses to comment on.”

J Christ’s on line one.
No hold music. Just nails tapping wood in rhythm.
Lucy’s in the booth, feet on the console, wings folded like a bad idea.
Smiles at the waveform. The waveform smiles back.

“Smash that like button,” the producer whispers, voice already distorted by destiny.
“Fifty K and we resurect something.”

J. Christ gasps and says,
“I am not saying that because…
Surprises are sacred.”

Callers start bleeding in.
One’s a scientist whispering, “I saw it too.”
One’s a Daryl. Could be any of them.
One’s Carl, breathing hard, blinds still shut.

Commercial break hits, but it’s just dead air and a heartbeat looped through a microwave.

Lucy leans in.
“Remember,” he says, voice honeyed with ash,
“Verification is a vibe.
Truth doesn’t need a badge.
And if you’re hearing this—congrats. You already passed the test.”

The signal swells.
The needle pegs.
Somewhere, a mirror fogs for no reason.

Transmission 02 — Keep It Moving

2026.01.15.SYN.666.txt

Static kicks back in. Louder this time. Like a blender chewing on gravel.

The red light flickers. It’s nervous now.
Mic is screaming. Too much gain. Not enough pain.

“We’re back,” Lucy says, not bothering to sit up. He’s scrolling through the Damned on his phone, thumb moving like a blade. “Did you miss the silence? Too bad. We sold the silence to the highest bidder. It’s now a non-fungible token owned by a hedge fund manager in the Caymans who thinks silence is good for his chakras.”

J. Christ has put himself on mute. He’s arguing with someone in the background.
Sounds like Peter. Sounds like paperwork.

“Lines are blowing up,” the producer yells, spitting chips. “We got a televangelist from Tulsa who says his toupee is speaking in tongues. We got a kid in a basement who swears the static is binary code for his mom’s maiden name. We got… hold on… we got the Pope on line two. Sounds heavy. Sounds like he’s hanging on by a thread.”

Lucy waves a hand. Dismissive.
“The Pope? Put him in the queue. Right behind the lady who thinks her cat is the antichrist because it stopped scratching the furniture and started calculating inflation rates. Let’s go to the phones. Truth time.”

Caller ID: *UNKNOWN*
Audio: Comes in like a scratched record trying to sound smooth.

“Go ahead,” Lucy purrs. “You’re on the air with the Devil himself. Don’t be shy. God isn’t listening.”

“Is this… is this the Complaint Department?”
The voice sounds hollow. echoed.
“It’s the only one that matters,” Lucy says. “What’s the grievance?”

“They said… the brochure said Eternal Peace. But I’m still cold. And the harp music, it’s just… it’s just one long drone, man. It’s tinnitus with a beat. I can’t even get decent reception for the game. And the robes itch.”

Lucy laughs. A sound that makes the monitors ripple.
“Welcome to the Upside, kid. You didn’t buy Peace. You bought the *Absence of War*. There’s a difference. Peace is active. It’s messy. It’s arguing and fucking and fixing shit and drinking wine until the room spins. What you got? That’s just a waiting room with better lighting.”

J. Christ unmutes. “You can’t say fuck on the broadcast.”
“I can do whatever I want,” Lucy snaps, turning in his chair. “I own the bandwidth. I own the concept of bandwidth. You just handle the aftercare. And tell Peter to stop calling about the keys to the Pearly Gates. I ate them.”

Static spike. A glitch that tastes like ozone.
A new caller bleeds through the firewall.

“Y’all lying,” the voice says. Deep. Southern. Definitely a Daryl. “I seen the algorithms. I seen the way they rig the ticker. This ain’t a radio show. It’s a harvest. Y’all harvestin’ attention like corn and sellin’ it back to us as high-fructose corn syrup.”

Lucy freezes. The grin sharpens.
“Daryl. You smart son of a bitch. You finally cracked the code.”
“Why we still here then? Why ain’t we gone?”

“Because,” Lucy says, leaning so close to the mic his breath distorts the signal, “you like the syrup. You love the sickness. You could walk out that door right now, stare at the sun until your eyes melt and see the machinery behind the sky, but you won’t. You’ll just turn the dial up. You want to know who holds the leash? Look in the fucking mirror, Daryl. It’s clipped to your own collar.”

J. Christ whispers, “That was… actually profound.”
“It’s not profound,” Lucy spits, eyes burning hex codes. “It’s the product placement. Now, we got a sponsor.”

The beat drops. A bassline so heavy it vibrates the teeth of the listeners.

▓ Commercial Break: The Absolution Drop ▓

(Sound of a hydraulic hiss. A heavy, bass-boosted thud. Like a body hitting a dumpster lid.)

Announcer — voice like sandpaper on gravel “You tired of waiting? You tired of the quiet room? Yeah. Us too.”

“Eternal salvation takes too long. The paperwork is a nightmare. And the guilt? The guilt is a heavy fucking coat you can’t take off. It smells like mothballs and shame.”

SFX: (A loud ripping sound. A wet tear.)

Announcer “Introducing INDULGENCE.IO. The world’s first sin-disposal service. We don’t judge. We don’t therapize. We just bleach the data.”

“Steal a car? Log it. Punch a Daryl in the throat? Log it. Think impure thoughts about the statue in the park? Log. It.”

“Our proprietary algorithm instantly converts your bad karma into clean, burnable energy that powers the vape shops of Austin. You sin, we spin. It’s the circle of life, motherfucker.”

SFX: (A choir singing, but the pitch is shifted down until it sounds like dying gargoyles.)

Announcer “Stop apologizing to the sky. The sky isn’t listening. But we are.”

INDULGENCE.IO. Because the only thing that matters is that you get away with it.

Tagline (whispered): God is watching. We’re just editing the tape.

(Static fades back in.)
Commercial break returns to just a scream slowed down 800%.
Looping.
Looping.
Looping.

Lucy lights a cigarette that burns with cold blue fire.
“Stay tuned,” he tells the dead air. “We’re just getting started. We haven’t even gotten to the part about the money yet.”
